Umuahia Set For Major Transformation As Governor Otti Announces Plans for Multi-Billion Naira Terminal Project

 

Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti has announced plans for the commencement of a Multi-Billion Naira Terminal construction in Umuahia which would be flagged of on Tuesday as part of activities to mark his one year anniversary.

 

The Terminal expected is to be handled by Planet Project; a company known for its successful execution of the Oshodi terminal in Lagos, which transformed the area into a modern transportation hub.

 

Governor Otti made the disclosure during an Interdenominational Thanksgiving Service in commemoration of his one year anniversary held at the International Conference Center Umuahia.

 

He noted that the project would enhance the urban landscape of Umuahia and elevate the city’s status to that of a proper capital.

 


The Governor emphasized that his vision for Umuahia is to have all parks, markets, and the railway terminal consolidated in one location and expressed confidence that company would replicate their success in the state.

 

“In the next two days, we shall be Commissioning projects, the few major projects in Aba will be commissioned by the Governor of Lagos State on Tuesday the 28th and the grandfinale on the 29th would be the commissioning of the Ossah road that we will be renaming after one of our great sons.

We will also be flagging off the Multi Billion Naira Terminal that we shall be building in Umuahia.

“We want Umuahia to be a proper capital city. We want all the parks and all the markets to be in the same place, even the railway terminal.

 

“You know the railway is coming from Aba and very soon, it will hit Umuahia. We have already agreed with them to move the Umuahia central terminal into the same place. So Umuahia in the next one year, you may not be able to recognize it if you travel“, Gov Otti remarked.


Governor Otti while underscoring his administration’s commitment to foster economic growth and improve the overall quality of life for the people, disclosed ongoing negotiations with the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) aimed at securing up to 80 megawatts of power for Umuahia by the end of the year or early next year.

 

“We are trying to solve the problem of power in Umuahia as we continue our negotiations with EEDC. By the time we achieve maximum output, we will have not less than 80 Megawatts of power willed to Umuahia that will serve the city.

“It is doable and by the end of the year, or early in the new year, we would have achieved it”, the Gov Otti assured.

The Governor who thanked God for the opportunity to serve the state, also acknowledged the pivotal role of religious leaders in advocating for change in Abia State and their unity, prayers and support during the elections which cuminated to his victory as well as the people who voted him into power.

 

Otti pledged not to disappoint God and the people,assuring that his government would continue to do the right thing irrespective of whose ox is gored and pointed out that he is not bothered by negative comments from opposition as he is only answerable to God and Abians.

He stated that under his watch as Governor of the state, both indigenes and non indigenes resident in the state will be treated equally.

 

Earlier in a sermon titled “Pay Back Time to God”, Rev. Dr. Uma Onwunta of the Presbyterian Church emphasized that God expects gratitude from His people and noted that the Governor’s actions reflect his fulfillment of a vow to God.

Rev. Dr. Onwunta highlighted that three ways to repay God is through praise, acknowledging that without God’s grace, nothing can be achieved as well as yielding oneself continuously to the work of righteousness.

 

He also stressed the importance of Christians dedicating themselves to God in thanksgiving and commended Governor Otti for the significant progress made in the state under his leadership.
