The Forum of South East Academic Doctors has been urged to uphold integrity in the discharge of its duties.
Alex Otti made the call while receiving members of the forum at the Government House. He described academic doctors as role models in governance and commended their commitment to professional excellence.
The Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Meribole, lauded the forum for recognizing what he described as good governance, noting that it remains the foundation of democracy.
He added that the primary purpose of governance is to ensure the security and welfare of citizens and expressed appreciation for the certificate presented to him by the forum. The Governor also encouraged members to continue supporting the present administration.
Earlier, the President of the Forum of South East Academic Doctors (FOSAD), Dr. Steven Nwala, alongside the Secretary, Dr. Uzor Ngorladi, stated that the purpose of their visit was to commend Governor Otti for his impactful leadership. They noted that significant achievements have been recorded since the inception of the current administration.
Dr. Nwala also informed the Secretary to the State Government of a survey conducted this year by the association to obtain responses from stakeholders and Abia indigenes both at home and in the diaspora. According to him, the survey results ranked Governor Otti as the best governor in the South East.
The forum appealed to the state government to allocate a parcel of land or a building to the association for the establishment of its permanent secretariat.
A highlight of the visit was the presentation of a Certificate of Excellence to the Governor by the forum. The event was attended by the Permanent Secretary, Office of the SSG, Dr. Godwin Okezuo.
