Rotary Club Of Aba, Installs Akparanta As The 56th President, Honours Nkwonta, Stanley, Olujie, Others

Aba, the commercial nerve of Abia state was agog as Rotary Club installed Rtn. Akparanta Emmanuel as the 56th President of Rotary Club of Aba.

Akparanta who was ratified as the President-elect of the oldest Rotary club in district 9142 and the third Rotary Club in Nigeria, attracted several personalities from all walks of life to the installation in Aba recently.

Speaking at the event, Akparanta thanked Rotary for finding him worthy to lead the club at this time, adding that he would live up to his billings.

Akparanta described Rotary as an organization of friends, colleagues, business associates, neighbours, who are committed in doing good all over the world.

In his words: “Our vision is; together we see a world where people unite to take action, to create lasting change in our communities and in ourselves.
“We provide service to others, promote integrity and advance world understanding, goodwill and peace through our fellowship of business, professionals and community leaders.
“Our story has been in existence for over 117 years and counting”.

Rt. Hon. Emeka Stanley, receiving an award of Excellence on Humanitarian Services from Rotary Club recently.

He further disclosed that Rotary Club of Aba has executed life-changing projects like distribution of writing materials and textbooks to schools, sponsoring of students on scholarships, building and equipping a toilet facility at School of the Deaf Aba among others.

He called for more partnership with well-meaning Nigerians and corporate bodies to achieve more.

Dr. Chidi Topaz Olujie represented by Mr. Monu, receiving an award of Excellence on Humanitarian Services from Rotary Club recently.

In her valedictory speech, the immediate past President, Rotary Club of Aba, Ugo Ojeh, thanked the organization for the opportunity to serve Rotary, maintaining that the wheel of Rotary has to go on, with their commitment and service to local communities and the world at large.

She prayed God to grant her successor the strength to achieve all his set goals for his tenure.

In their separate remarks, some of the awardees: Sir Chris Nkwonta, Rt. Hon. Emeka Stanley and Dr. Chidi Topaz Olujie among others disclosed that charity does not take away anything from an individual but makes one happy while making others happy too.

They thanked Rotary for the honour and promised to continue to work together for the benefits of humanity in Ukwa, Abia and Nigeria at large.

The event also featured the induction of Mr. Kingsley Ogbonna, Mr. Nze Louis and Nurse Happiness Ukaumunna as well as the launching of service projects.
