Police arrest husband for butchering wife

Akwa Ibom Police Command have arrested one Mr. Sunday Uko Akpan (M) for allegedly murdering his wife and mother of three- Mrs Martha Sunday over a slight misunderstanding that ensued between them.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Elkana Bala who made this known through a press statement said ”on 11th October, 2017 at about 2200hrs, the said suspect brutally butchered his 35year old wife and mother of three over a slight misunderstanding which resulted into a quarrel and fight.”

According to Bala, the suspect who is an Elder in the Light of the World Mission Church, Oron road Uyo, at mid night went further using sharp cutlass to cut the remains of his wife into pieces, gathered them in two sack bags, loaded them in a wheelbarrow and disposed it in a dust bin close to NDLEA’s office off Nwaniba road, Uyo.

He further said that the suspect perpetrated this act in the presence of his three children who later reported to the police for fear of being killed by their father.

Bala who said the suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation maintained that investigation is ongoing and the suspect will be arraigned in court for murder.
