PISE-P: Hon Onuigbo Commends Kalu’s Initiative, Says S’East Economy Will Be Rejiggered 

The former federal Lawmaker that represented Ikwuano/Umuahia Constituency and a member of the Governing Board of the North East Development Commission(NEDC), Rep Sam Onuigbo, has extolled the Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives,Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu over his Peace in the South East project(PISE-P).
The project which recognizes the urgency to address the challenges in the South East region,is bid to restore peace and unlock the untapped potential of the South East region.

Speaking with Newsmen in Umuahia, during the Grand Civic Reception organized by the Abia State Government to receive home the Deputy Speaker, the former legislator for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, described the Peace in the South East Project as apt, particularly at a time the region is faced with internal crisis.
According to Rep Onuigbo, the essence of the peace initiative cannot be undermined, as it has resonate hope and as well, chart a new course in the region.
He said the benefits of the initiative are enormous, particularly economy benefits, stating that the project would help to rejig economic activities that are already being crumbled in the region, with the mondays sit-at-home.
“People nolonger come to Aba and other major markets in the South East to buy goods m because of the frequent sit at home in the area and other associating security challenges, which have translated to huge economic loss in the region.
“Once peace is returned in totality, you will find people returning their investments. Of course you know without peace,there cannot be progress and development. This is a critical project for which the Deputy Speaker deserves commendation”.
He stated that the initiative is a welcome development and it’s realizable, especially with the level of support it’s getting both from the federal government and international bodies.
Rep Onuigbo further eulogized the unveiling of the PISE-,P, which he hinted would help in restoring lasting peace in the region and as well, bait the reoccurring economic losses, emanating from the the shut down of commercial activities in the area.
Meanwhile, Hon Onuigbo, congratulated Rt Hon Kalu for being  the number six citizen in the country and for his sterling legislative qualities.
He said,”Rt Hon Ben Kalu presides over the House whenever the Speaker is not around. The South East Development Commission Bill was sponsored by him alongside other lawmakers. As the Deputy Speaker, he is the chairman of the committee of the whole, where final decisions on bills are made before it goes for the third reading.
“The Deputy Speaker occupies a very strategic position, so the Reception that is being done today by the Abia state government is apt  and welcome”.
Recall that Hon Sam Onuigbo who sponsored the Climate Change Act  in Nigeria, recently received the recognition as one of the 30 Global Leaders on Climate Change.
