… Orders a temporary stop to online payment of ticket levies by tricycle operators
The Abia State Deputy Governor, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu has pointed out that the Government of Dr Alex Otti does not support intimidation of citizens under any guise and has ordered a temporary stop to online payment of ticket levies by tricycle operators pending the resolution of all forms of problems encountered in accessing the platform for payment by tricycle operators.
The Deputy Governor, Engr Ikechukwu Emetu who announced this while addressing a group of tricycle driver operators in Umuahia who were on a peaceful protest at the Government House Umuahia, over their inability to access the platform for the payment of the online ticket and subsequent harassment by approved ticket collectors and touts in Umuahia and beyond.
He assured that the platform for payment of online ticket will be made functional and easy to access to enable them make their payment without stress.
The State Deputy Governor lauded the tricycle drivers for the peaceful way they conducted themselves and further reassured them that Government will arrest any person going contrary to Government’s directive and urged them to go about their business while obeying Government policies in the bid to take the State to greater heights.
Earlier in their speeches the leaders of the tricycle drivers in Umuahia Mr Enyinna Nwaubani and Mr Emmanuel Eke said they came to protest over their inability to pay the online ticket fee approved by government as a result of poor network services in the morning hours and subsequent harassment by some TIMASS officials, approved Government ticket collectors and touts on daily basis.
They expressed their willingness to obey Government directives of paying the online ticket fees and appealed that the platform for the online ticket fees be made accessible and functional for easy payment, while Govt should rescue them from the high-handedness of TIMASS officials, approved Government ticket online collectors and touts.
