Gov Otti Pledges Commitment To Technology-Driven Economy For Abia State

 

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fostering a digital and technology-driven economy in Abia State through partnerships with reputable companies.

 

Governor Otti stated this during a meeting with a delegation of investors from the West India Asian Cable Company (WIACC), a leading broadband company, led by the General Overseer of Omega Ministries, Apostle Chibuzo Chinyere.

Governor Otti emphasized the role of broadband technology in achieving economic prosperity for Abia State where residents can work remotely for global companies like Google and Amazon and highlighted his administration’s robust infrastructure plans.

 

He noted that the recent commissioning of the Geometric Power Station, and ongoing efforts to address infrastructural challenges that have previously deterred investors, are being gradually addressed.

Broadband technology is crucial not just for connectivity but also for education, health, and employment. Many people can work from home for major companies, and this is the future we are striving towards,” he added.

 

Earlier while introducing the Investor, the General Overseer, Omega Power Ministry, Apostle Chibuzo Chinyere, described Governor Otti as a divine answer to Abia’s longstanding challenges and pointed out that various transformative projects by the Governor, clearly shows that he is on a mission to transform the state into the Japan of Africa.

While stating that he is passionate about the development of the state, Apostle Chibuzor expressed confidence in WIACC’s ability to boost the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and create job opportunities.

The Regional Director of the Company, Mr Darren Bedford expressed the company’s intent to partner with the state government to transform Abia into an internet hub capable of attracting global tech giants like Microsoft, Google, and Amazon.

He said that the project is to be situate on an 80 hectares land and highlighted the advantage of the newly commissioned Geometric Power Company in enhancing the state’s connectivity with Southern states and beyond.

 

Also contributing, a Consultant with WIACC, Mr. Innocent Nwokocha added that WIACC plans to connect Abia with international destinations such as China, the UK, France, and Germany and other European companies

He said the company would also provide training opportunities for youths in broadband technology, positioning Abia as a smart state.
