Forty years after: Champion Breweries PLC Promises dividends to shareholders

The Management of Champion Breweries PLC, the Producers of Champion beer, Amstel Malta, Champ Malta has assured its numerous shareholders across the country of payment of dividends by 2020, which is next year.

It added that such would be the first of it’s kind in forty years since the establishment of the company in 1979.

The Managing Director, Mr. Patrick Ejidoh disclosed this on Monday in Uyo while presenting his address during the 2018 distributors award.

According to him, “For the first time since the company was established in 1979, it is becoming profitable and ready to start paying dividends to its shareholders.

“The days when this company wobbled and fumbled is over. We are taking every step necessary to ensure the business is sustainable. Right now, Champion beer and Champ Malta are gathering momentum in the market.”

Ejido expressed delight that the new management of the Company under his watch has been able to hold the second distributors’ award since it started in 2017, adding there is a clear indication that the business is growing by leaps and eager to break into new markets.

He revealed that steps have been taken to re-position the company and remodel the bottles to modern standard, training of staff adding that “the efforts we are making is bearing fruits and I want to assure our shareholders that next year we shall pay dividends of 2019”.

The Managing Director encouraged the distributors to work harder to win awards, promising that next year the gift items will be bigger and better.

Chairman of the board of directors of the company Dr. Elijah Akpan said the company had undergone great transformation under the current management.

He expressed confidence that with the synergy between the Board of Directors, Management and Staff of the Company, the current strides witnessed in the company would be surpassed.

According to him, huge investments have been made to remodel the bottles to modern standards and a lot sunk into human resources development.

He pleaded with distributors currently facing scarcity of their products assuring that it would be addressed soon.

Dr. Akpan thanked staff and management for working so hard to improve the fortunes of the company in such a short time.

Winner of the Highest Total Combined Volume (National) Mr. Edet Akpan thanked Champion Breweries for organising the award ceremony since 2017.

He said it was a way to encourage and motivate the distributors to work harder to
achieve the goals of the company.

Several distributors in different categories received various awards and gifts ranging from luggage tricycles, fans, hundreds of crates of either Champion Beer or Champ Malta, during the award ceremony.

The awards include the Highest Combined Volume Award, Integrity Award, District Sales Champion Awards, Slate Territories Champion Award, National Highest Combined Volume Award.
