The Commissioner of Environment, Mr Philemon Ogbonna, has tasked Abia residents to embrace the concept of commitment towards the monthly sanitation exercise, aimed at improving their overall well being of all.

Ogbonna gave the task in Umuahia, Abia State while monitoring the environmental exercise in parts of the State capital.

He commended traders at Eket street by Owerri road for the orderly conduct and improvement noted, while inspecting a de-silting work at the area .

He also called on motor parks, operating within Isi-gate area to partner with his ministry to achieve the state government’s goal on environmental sanitation in the state.

Moreover, he cautioned traders at Orie-Ugba market to adhere strictly with the Three hours clean-up exercise for the overall well being of Abia residents.

He decried the high number of arrested defaulters despite numerous radio announcement on the exercise.

Speaking respectively, the Deputy General Manager, ASEPA, Catechist Ambrose Jonah and the Deputy Mayor, Hon. Anthony Amah, appreciated the level of collaboration among the key players in the environment sector as well as appreciated the level of compliance recorded during the exercise.
