Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has taken delivery of three (3) Medical Ambulances donated by the management of BUA Group Ltd as part of it’s support in the fight against Corona Virus.
Speaking while receiving the three (3)Kinglong Medical Ambulances at Government House Umuahia, Governor Ikpeazu thanked the management of BUA Group for the care and concern for Abia state and the average Nigerian since the outbreak of Covid-19 and assured that the vehicles would be put to good use in reaching the hinterlands.
Ikpeazu, noted that Abia State Government has began community testing at the Local Government Areas to help contain the spread of the virus at the community level adding that the move will ensure that at least thirty percent (30%) of the Abia population are tested.
He disclosed that the third laboratory for COVID-19 testing will soon be functional at the Federal Medical Center (FMC) and Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike noting that the idea is to have at least six molecular labouratories in the State in the near future.
Earlier while presenting the vehicles, the Representative and General Manager, BUA Group Ltd, Alhaji Mohammad Ibrahim said the donation is part of their corporate responsibility to support the fight against Covid-19 adding that the foundation partners with the Federal and State governments by donations in cash, food and ambulances to aid in the fight against the Corona virus.
He extolled Governor Ikpeazu on his developmental strides in the State which he described as footprints on the sands of time and also congratulated him on his survival from Covid-19 infection.
