Court denies bail to 40 year old, Okwubunka, who defiled his niece!!!

 

A Magistrate Court sitting in Umuahia has again denied bail to one Okwubunka Nwaosueke who was alleged to have raped his 13 year old niece miss Oluchi Nwaosueke in the month of May 2020.

The Defense Counsel Barr. Uwakwe again  applied for the bail for the accused. However the presiding Magistrate Emmanuel Nwankpa  refused him bail and directed the defence to apply to the high court. 

According to him the court has no jurisdiction to grant bail to the accused and therefore adjourned the case till  21st of August, 2020 for accelerated hearing.

It will be recalled that Magistrate Nwankpa last Friday 7th August refused granting bail to the suspect Okwubunka Nwaosueke who allegedly raped his 13yers old Niece Oluchi Nwaosueke at Umumba Nsirimo in Umuahia south LGA of Abia state

Nwankpa said he would not  act in haste but will look at the position of the law, he therefore remanded the suspect to Afara correctional centre, Umuahia and adjourned the case till today 14 of August 2020.

Okwubunka  Nwaosueke 40 years old and a school proprietor was reported to have had carnal knowledge with his niece Oluchi. When the matter was reported to the police, the suspect evaded police arrest, he ran away from the community and after about two weeks, reappear with police with a petition he wrote  against the victim (Oluchi) mother Mrs Daberechi Nwaosueke who was arrested by the police.

The youths of the community got infuriated and searched out for Okwunbunka in his hide out, he was handed over to the police with the intervention of the Police Public Relations Officer ASP Geoffrey Ogbonna Mrs Daberechi was released the same day while Okwubunka  was charged to court.

Speaking with the alleged rape girl, Oluchi Nwaosueke said she was terrified at her uncle’s behavior towards her, she said he threatened to kill her if she open up the abuse on her  to any one.
