The Conference of Former Speakers of the Abia State House of Assembly, has praised the developmental projects undertaken by Governor Alex Otti’s Labour Party administration.
The former Speakers drawn from the various political parties made their feelings known when they accompanied Governor Otti to inspect ongoing road project in Aba, the commercial nerve center of the state and it’s environs.
Some of the ongoing road projects inspected during the tour include; Pepples Road, Ndoki Road, Old Court Road, Ehi Road, Port Harcourt Road.
Others are; Omuma Road, Industrial Road, Umuodu Avenue, University Road, all in Aba, and Mgbedeala-Omoba Road in Isialangwa South LGA.
Speaking to Newsmen on behalf of the former Speakers, Rt. Hon. Stanley Ohajuruka while commending the efforts of Governor Otti, noted the importance of good governance, and encouraged the Governor not to relent in bringing democracy dividends to the people.
Ohajuruka who emphasized that although the former Speakers are from different political parties, said that one does not have to be affiliated with the same political party to recognize positive achievements.
The former speaker noted that Governor Otti has shown a posture of a statesman, transcending party affiliations, and urged him to engage individuals from diverse political backgrounds in decision-making processes.
“Governor Otti has shown us that he is not just a Governor for Labour party where he belongs. We are very happy for that and we want to encourage him to ensure that everybody is brought on board towards contributing their own quota”.
He highlighted the overwhelming support demonstrated by the people of Abia State and emphasized the need for the Governor to remain focused and work tirelessly to meet the high expectations of the populace.

“We are quite impressed with what we saw, we are deeply impressed and we want to encourage him (the Governor) to do even more.
“You could see from the outpouring of support the people were showing. You could see the happiness that ensued everywhere we went so we want to commend him for the laudable initiative and projects he has brought in Abia state.
“My advice to him is to remain focused and work even harder. Expectations are very high and this is time for governance“, Ohajuruka stated.
Ohajuruka who assured Governor Otti of their support, pledged to provide valuable suggestions and ideas to aid in achieving the Governor’s developmental goals and urged the people to rally behind the Governor in his efforts to deliver the dividends of democracy.
“We have assured him that we will also avail ourselves with very useful suggestions and ideas that will help him achieve his developmental goals in Abia state.
“We want the people of the state to support him and believe in his ability to bring the dividends of democracy to them. He had shown capacity, he had shown that he is genuine and that he has the interest of the people at heart.
“We do not have any doubt in our minds that he will achieve what he has set to achieve for the people of Abia state”, Ohajuruka affirmed.
Also speaking, Rt. Hon Christopher Enweremadu expressed happiness with the Governor for achieving results within a short frame of time and for meeting the expectations of the people of the state and prayed God to help him to accomplish more for Abians.
Earlier while addressing the people at various spots during the inspection, Governor Otti emphasized the strategic and economic significance of the roads, and urged the contractors to accelerate their efforts to ensure the completion of the roads before the onset of rains.
He said that the inspection was aimed at ensuring compliance with specifications and to assess the progress of the road project.
Other members of the Conference of Former Speakers of Abia State House of Assembly who accompanied Governor Otti on the road inspection tour include; Rt. Hons. Arua Arusi, Agwu U. Agwu, Ude Okochukwu, Martins Azubuike and Chikwendu Kalu.
