Commissioner for Environment Lauds Progress at Umumukwu Nkata Ibeku Flood Site

Abia State Commissioner for Environment, Mr Philemon Asonye Ogbonna, has expressed happiness over the quality of work going on in Umumukwu Nkata Ibeku flood site.

Mr. Ogbonna made his feelings known during his inspection tour of the site. He appreciated the contractor for speedy and quality of work being executed and urged them to deliver the work before the end of the month.

The Commissioner who was accompanied by the permanent secretary of the Ministry Lady Joy Maduka warned the community to make good use of the facility and not to dispose waste in the drain in order not to block it.

Environment boss pointed out that the present administration of Dr. Alex C. Otti has the welfare of the people at heart hence the need to execute this project.

Some of the villagers interviewed including Comrade Nathaniel Onyekwere who could not hide their feelings thanked the governor and ministry of Environment for coming to their aid saying that for over 24 years the people of the community have suffered untold hardship because of the havoc caused by this flood promised to make good use of the facility.
