Abia suspends relocation of mechanic shops

Abia State government has directed immediate suspension of relocation of mechanic and spare parts dealers in Aba metropolis to Ovom Mechanic Cluster in Obingwa Local Government Area.

Addressing the Aba business community early today, the Deputy Governor, Engr Ikechukwu Emetu, said that the suspension has become necessary in view of the current economic hardship in the country, arising from depreciation of the naira and its consequent effect on their businesses.


Engr Emetu said that the governor, Dr Alex Otti empathizes with them over the situation and has directed the suspension of the activities of the task force on the relocation.

He reiterated the need for their relocation from the busy Aba Metropolis to a more spacious and conducive environment at Ovom Mechanic Cluster to decongest Aba Metropolis of heavy-duty trucks which aid in deteriorating the internal roads as well as block the roads from their incessant fall.

The Deputy Governor urged them to remain law abiding as they go about their legitimate businesses and accord the Dr. Alex Otti led government maximum support to restore Aba to its lost glory.
