Three days after the 76th birthday of President Muhamamadu Buhari, Senate President Bukola Saraki on Wednesday clocked 56.
Saraki walked into a warm reception and birthday ceremony organised by members of his staff and friends in his office at the Senate.
Messages of felicitation have been pouring in through the social media with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a party he joined recently tweeting:
“56 Happy Cheers to an indefatigable statesman, the @SPNigeria and DG of the @OfficialPDPNig Presidential Campaign Organization, @bukolasaraki.
“We wish you happy birthday and many happy returns. May God continue to guide you as you steer the ship of leadership.’’
The presidential candidate of PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, also congratulated Saraki on his birthday in a tweet.
“Happy birthday my brother Bukola Saraki. On this special day let’s allow bygones be bygones. Let’s forget what happened during the primaries and work together.
“To show that you are now with me, please pay those NASS workers. They are reducing my chances of becoming president.’’
The Senate President tweeter handle also said: “Happy Birthday to the President of the Senate and Chairman of the 8th National Assembly, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki.’’
Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, Governor of Delta state also congratulated Saraki in a tweet.
“On behalf of my family, the @dsgovernment and people of Delta State, I join the family of @SPNigeria Dr @BukolaSaraki, political associates, friends and well-wishers to thank Almighty God for his life which has been marked by outstanding accomplishments and enduring fulfillment.’’
Sokoto state governor, Alhaji Aminu W. Tambuwal, who defected with Saraki from ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to PDP also felicitated with the senate president.
IN a tweet, he said: “I want to specially wish my friend and brother @bukolasaraki a very happy birthday.
“I join millions of Nigerians to wish him Good health, Long life and the wisdom to lead the Presidential Campaign to victory come 2019. #SarakiAt56’’
Saraki was born on December 19, 1962.
He became President of Senate in May 2015.
He was the Governor of Kwara State under the platform of the PDP from 2003 to 2011.
He was first elected to the Senate in April 2011, also under the platform of the PDP, representing the Kwara Central senatorial district, and then re-elected in the March 2015 election, under the platform of the APC.
He returned to his former party, PDP on 31st of July 2018.
