SSG Reassures Ihenwekala Community on Education Support

The Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Meribole, has assured residents of Ihenwekala in Umuahia South Local Government Area of continued support from the Abia State Government, especially in education and other important sectors.

Dr. Meribole gave the assurance when he received members of the Ihenwekala Development Union, Umuahia Branch, who paid him a courtesy visit in his office. He said the administration of Alex Otti remains committed to improving the lives of citizens and has already recorded positive changes in the community since the Governor’s inspection visit last year.

He explained that the government has strengthened the education sector through the recruitment of more teachers across the state. According to him, about 4,000 teachers have recently been employed to improve teaching and learning in public schools. He added that the request by the community for more teachers would be forwarded to the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education for consideration.
