Abia Information Commissioner Receives Professional Printers, Assures Support

The Abia State Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, has received members of the Chartered Institute of Professional Printers of Nigeria (CIPPON) and the Abia State Printers Association during a courtesy visit to his office.

During the meeting, Prince Kanu praised the two organizations for their dedication to promoting professionalism and high standards in the printing industry. He said their visit reflects the growing cooperation between professional bodies and the Abia State Government under the leadership of Governor Alex Otti. The commissioner noted that the government values the role of professionals in the development of the state and assured the delegation that the administration will continue to support initiatives that encourage innovation, improve standards, and boost economic growth in Abia.

Earlier in his remarks, the leader of the delegation, Pastor Chimezie Nwarie, who serves as the Government Printer at the Government Press, said the purpose of the visit was to identify with the progress and transformation taking place in the state. He commended Governor Alex Otti for what he described as strong and impactful leadership, noting that ongoing infrastructural development, improved governance, and key reforms are helping to restore public confidence in the state.

Pastor Nwarie also explained that the Chartered Institute of Professional Printers of Nigeria is a professional body established by an Act in 2007 to regulate and promote standards in the printing profession across the country. According to him, the institute works to ensure that printing professionals maintain high ethical and professional standards in their practice. He further announced that Abia State will host the institute’s South East Conference from April 16 to 17, an event expected to attract printing professionals from across the region to discuss developments and opportunities in the industry.

In his vote of thanks, Hon. Olowohunwa Tunji Jerome, a national council member of the institute, thanked the commissioner for the warm reception and the opportunity to interact with the ministry. He reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to supporting professional development and strengthening cooperation with government institutions for the growth of the printing sector.

Others present during the visit included the General Manager of Abia Newspapers Publishing Corporation, Hon. Jones Nnanna Ike; the President of the Abia State Printers Association, Mr. Onyemachi Onwuchekwa; Mr. Adindu Victor Ndubuisi; the Chairman of CIPPON Abia State Chapter, Sir Anthony Ibeh; and Mr. Adeyemi Olaiya, among others.
