The people of Rivers State are beginning to witness the impact of Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s commitment to safety and emergency response as the state’s fire service is now fully operational.
On Tuesday, a fully loaded fuel tanker fell, blocking one section of the road linking Slaughter, Woji and Elelenwo. The situation, which in the past could have led to a catastrophic fire outbreak, was swiftly brought under control by the Rivers State Fire Service.
Upon receiving the distress call, the Commissioner for Special Duties, Chief Sam Anya, arrived at the scene with fire trucks and emergency personnel to manage the situation, preventing any ignition that could have led to loss of lives and properties.
This marks a major shift in Rivers State’s emergency response capabilities. Before now, such accidents often resulted in devastating fires, leaving victims in distress. However, under Governor Fubara’s leadership, proactive safety measures and improved emergency management have significantly reduced such risks.
With the commissioning of additional fire trucks and substations set for next month, Rivers State is on track to becoming one of the most prepared states in Nigeria for fire and emergency response.
Governor Fubara’s administration continues to prioritize the protection of lives and properties, ensuring that residents can feel safer knowing that help is always within reach.
