Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has announced a comprehensive restructuring of the State’s Security architecture to address emerging criminal activities assuring Abians of adequate security especially during the yuletide season.

Speaking during the Monthly Media Parley tagged; “Governor Otti Speaks to Abians,” held at the Government House, Umuahia, the Governor disclosed that South East Governors are also collaborating to find lasting solutions to insecurity in the region.
He assured Abians in the diaspora planning to return home for the festive season of adequate security measures.
“In the area of Security, we have decided to rejig the Security Architecture. We are doing everything possible to ensure that our state is safe and particularly at this time.
“We have made quite some investments in security and the issue about security is not something you should discuss in details.
“I would like people to know that the government is not going to rest on its oars until we rid this place of criminal activities both it in the rural or urban areas.
“I would also encourage our brothers and sisters in diaspora who have given indication that they were going to come to Continue because we have made adequate arrangements to protect everyone in the state particularly in this time”, the Governor further assured.
Responding to reports of alleged extortion of commuters around the Nunya-Isuikwuato junction on the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, the Governor directed his Chief Security Officer to immediately investigate the matter and report back promptly.
He explained that the Abia Airport Project is largely a Federal Government project, while Abia State only keyed in, in terms of the runway upgrade.
“On Tuesday, we shall be flagging off the proposed Abia Airport and I see a few people make comments without sufficient information.
“The first time I spoke about Abia Airport I made it clear that it is a Federal Government project, what we have come to do is provide land and also provide logistics to ensure the airport is constructed to standard.
“We want to thank the Federal Government for their consideration for agreeing with us, so that we can work together to give our people a befitting airport”, the Governor stated.
He said that his administration has commenced the implementation of the recommendation of the white paper report of the visitation panel of Abia State University Uturu, (ABSU) and promised to implement all recommendations to the later so as to enable the institution stand out in the comity of Tertiary Institutions across the Country.
“We!are following the White Paper of the visitation panel.
“A new Management is in place in Abia State University and the recommendations that were given in the White Paper will be implemented by the Government to the latter”, Otti assured.
Governor Otti who detailed of his administration’s commitment to road rehabilitation and expansion, said his Government is determined to improve connectivity across the state adding that few more roads will be flagged off before the end of the year.
