Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, assured that his administration would continue to embark on people’s-oriented projects.
Fubara also disclosed that his administration will not engage in deceit, vindictiveness and frivolities but embark on projects that will have significant bearing and value on the lives of Rivers people.
The governor was also decorated with a chieftaincy title of Eze Eyawe Ugo of Ekpeye land (King of Peace and Eagle of Ekpeye land) by the Eze Ekpeye Logbo, Eze Sir Kelvin Ngozi Anugwo on behalf of the Ekpeye ethnic nationality.
Gov. Fubara who revealed this during the commissioning of the remodeled Government Girls Secondary School in Ahoada on Friday, December 6, 2024, said his administration places a high premium on education and will not politicize the promotion of excellence in the educational sector through the upgrading of critical infrastructures.
He explained that all the projects so far embarked on by his administration were not politically motivated but conceived to solve the essential needs of the people.
“I am overwhelmed with joy standing here this afternoon to celebrate a project that is not associated with vindictiveness. I use that word because this project was awarded before May 29, it wasn’t funded, the contractors are not even people that I know. But by the special grace of God because of the importance of education that we see as a key thing that we must follow, notwithstanding our problems.”
“On Wednesday this week we inaugurated a project, an 11.8 kilometer Okehi-Umuola-Eberi link road which connects Omuma and Etche and we made a very bold statement there to say that very soon we will be going to Omuma to also inaugurate another project.”
Governor Fubara flayed those who engage in social media hypes to undermine the truth noting that such culpable deceits will soon expire.
According to him, “We challenged them that the project that we are going to commission in Omuma is the first project that they are seeing. A few days later those people who felt the only way that they can survive is social media and to sell dogs. I wonder why you will go to school, your parents will spend money and the only profession you choose is to be a data boy and to sell dogs.”
“I stand here to say that even if there was a project commissioned at that time, it was a farm road that has no impact. The project we are commissioning has significance and that is what we should be talking about. It is not going to do one irrelevant project and you call people. We are talking about projects that will add value to the lives of the people.”
He said, “We will not celebrate things that will not make meaning, that is why we are here today to inaugurate this special school for people that are going to be mothers to this great nation. People that will be wives to great men and if you don’t produce a quality girl-child it means the nation is gone. So you can see and everybody can attest that we are strategic. It is not just doing, but doing what is right.”
Gov. Fubara further said key stakeholders in Ekpeye Kingdom, including the Eze Ekpeye Logbo, His Majesty, Eze Sir Kelvin Ngozi Anugwo, Chief of Staff to Rivers State Government, Rt Hon Edison Ehie, among others were persecuted for supporting his administration, but assured that their support will not be taken for granted.
“I understand the emotion that is being displayed here today. I feel for this great kingdom. When the Eze Ekpeye was talking, many of you may not understand what happened. Because of their support for me he was arrested, tried on trumped up charges and detained in Police custody for more than 4 months alongside Chief Cassidy.”
“This thing cannot last forever and I can assure you with all boldness today that they are gradually coming to an end. What we just need is to be patient. We have promised that our approach will be following this process with patience and the fear of God and we will get there.”
“So, Eze Ekpeye and other traditional rulers here who have suffered in the course of supporting us your request for recognition of other traditional stools will be granted.”
“I want to thank the good people of Ekpeye not just Ahoada East for giving us your support. You have shown publicly and openly your position in this government, we will support you with everything that we have got. We will make sure that your son who decided to follow us will be honoured.”
The governor appealed to the people to always remain peaceful and avoid anything that will give the enemies the opportunity to attack them pointing out that detractors are always looking for something to attack his supporters, “but please don’t give them the opportunity. We are entering into the festive period, enter it with all the amount of joy knowing well that our government has its mantra Peoples first.”
While accepting the Chieftancy title bestowed on him, Gov. Fubara assured that he will not disappoint The people, stressing “The meaning of the Chieftancy is Eagle. Eagle is a strong bird even in the face of frustration you can see that we are still flying and flying well. We will continue to make you happy and we will bring honour to you”
