President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Senate, House of Representatives, the Federal Ministry of Education, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and the Chairman of NINLAN Governing Council have been applauded for prioritizing indigenous Nigerian languages as means to achieve national cohesion, peace, unity and resource sharing.
The former Deputy Vice Chancellor, (Administration), Abia State University, Uturu, Prof. Ogbonna Onuoha stated this recently when he resumed as the new Executive Director, National Institute for Nigerian Languages (NINLAN) Aba, Abia State.
Presenting the new Executive Director to NINLAN management and royal fathers of the host communities, the Chairman Governing Council of the institution, Prof. Victor Ukaogo, described the new Executive Director as a frontline academic and astute administrator.
He maintained that Prof. Onuoha who served Abia State University Uturu meticulously, was chosen from eight Professors who applied for the position, urging everyone to give him maximum support.
Responding, Prof. Onuoha who thanked the management and staff for the warm reception, assured everyone that he would synergize with the Governing Council to take the institution to an enviable height.
He called for hard work, productivity, accountability and dedication to duty, in order to give NINLAN a massive turnaround.
He also noted that it would take cooperation from all quarters to achieve the school’s goals.
The new academic and administrative leader also commended the Deputy Speaker of House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, for his support to the institution.
Earlier in his remark, the immediate past acting Executive Director, Prof. Cyprian Ugwu, thanked the school Governing Council for the privilege to serve, acknowledging that the cooperation he received from management and staff was encouraging.
He enjoined staff and management of the institution to support Prof. Onuoha in his quest to move the institution forward.
The dignitaries at the event were: former acting Executive Director, Professor Cyprian Ugwu, the Registrar, Mrs Charity Ijoma, Director of Works, traditional rulers/community leaders, staff and members of the public among others.
