Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has underscored his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance irrespective of tribe, religion or political party affiliation.
Governor Otti was speaking at Trademore event Center, Umuahia during the 76th birthday celebration and reception in honour of former Senate President and Board of Trustees Chairman of the PDP Senator Adolphus Wabara.
He emphasized that his government sees every resident of Abia as one, irrespective of political affiliation, ethnic and regional lines.
Government Otti added that this accounts for why his government appointed an Edo man as of the serving permanent Secretaries in the Abia State Civil Service.
He said; “All the Abia people who are here whether they are PDP, APC, Labour, they are all my people.
“You may have known that our government is a government without discrimination.
“If you live in Abia, you are from Abia and that is why we have given appointments to people who don’t come from here.
“For the first time in the history of Abia state, an Edo man is a Permanent Secretary. We recognize that we are all one and the same people”.
Governor Otti reiterated his administration’s dedication to fostering a peaceful and inclusive Abia State, where every citizen can enjoy the dividends of democracy.
He expressed his resolve to prioritize governance following the conclusion of electoral processes and legal matters, saying “immediately after election and litigation, governance takes over”.
Governor Otti who thanked the PDP for recognizing the innate abilities of Senator Wabara, praised the senator’s integrity and leadership.
“He can be partisan but he knows the difference between good and evil whenever you give him authority and responsibility.
“As his Governor,I can give a guarantee that he will do it well. I can assure you that you didn’t make a wrong choice”, Otti stated
He noted that despite the sad event of last Thursday where five military men where slain by unknown criminals, Abia is still one of the safest states and vowed not to rest until the culprits are smoked out.
.
“Abia is safe, “We will leave no stone unturned to get the criminals, We will smoke them out”, Otti vowed.
Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, Governor Bala Muhammed of Bauchi state, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo and Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state were in attendance at the ceremony.
