Abia Assembly Summons State NDDC Commissioner

The Abia State House of Assembly has passed a resolution inviting the NDDC Commissioner representing the State in the Commission for an interactive session over some abandoned NDDC road projects in Ohafia L.G.A.

 

The resolution followed a motion by the member representing Ohafia South State Constituency, Mr Mba Kalu Nwoke on the urgent need to complete the abandoned 26km Asaga-Eziafor Ohafia to Biakpan-Etono in Akwa Ibom State and the 14km Asaga-Amuke-Amangwu Ohafia to Uruakpan-Biasse in Akwa Ibom State road projects given the socio-economic importance of the roads to the affected states and the nation and people of the area in particular.

Mr Kalu Nwoke who expressed worry over the development, especially the inability to captured the roads in the state list of abandoned NDDC projects recently compiled prayed the House to cause the roads to be included in the state list of NDDC abandoned projects. He also called on the NDDC to as a matter of urgency ensure the completion of the roads, and to reach out to members of the National Assembly from Abia State to lend their voices in calling on the Federal Government to direct the contractors handling the Projects to go back to site.

Ruling on the motion after taking the contributions of members, the Speaker Chief Emmanuel Emeruwa granted Mr. Nwoko’s prayers and further directed the House Committee on Works to invite the state NDDC representative for an interaction.

 

The House also commiserated with the traders of Ngwa Road Market Aba whose shops were recently gutted by Fire and commended the Governor, Dr Alex Otti for his quick intervention in visiting and identifying with the Traders at the Market.
