The Ehere community in Aba erupted with joy and jubilation as His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, the Governor of Abia State, officially commissioned the newly renovated Emelogu road, linking it to the bustling Good Morning Market. The long-awaited project was met with enthusiasm by the local community, who expressed their gratitude and hopes for continued development.
In an interview with our correspondent, Mrs. Gladys Ugochukwu, the Chairlady of the Ehere Women Council, expressed her delight, saying, “We are gathered here to welcome our able Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, for the commissioning of our road. We are happy that our Governor remembered us, and we plead to be continually remembered in his good books.” She further urged all women to support Governor Alex Otti’s administration just as fervently as they support their own families.
Deaconness Evelyn Ngwakwe, the Chairlady of the Ehere Autonomous Community, emphasized that the road commissioning project was a much-needed development. She praised Governor Otti’s achievements during his first 100 days in office and urged him to continue his good work. Ngwakwe also called on the Governor to include Ehere women in his administration, citing the youth’s need for gainful employment as a top priority. She echoed the call for unwavering support from the local women, emphasizing their critical role in the community’s progress.
Amid the celebratory atmosphere, Mr. Chidi Nwokendi, a local youth, expressed his happiness with the event and offered a prayer that other road networks in Aba and its metropolis would receive similar attention and improvements in the near future.
Efforts to speak with the traditional ruler, HRH Eze Sir Young A. Nwangwa (KSA), the OKO I of Ehere Autonomous Community, proved difficult as he was engrossed in attending to dignitaries present at the event. However, one of his aides, who wished to remain anonymous, affirmed the Eze’s unwavering support for Dr. Alex Otti’s administration, believing that Abia State would genuinely prosper under the Governor’s leadership.
The event was graced by various dignitaries, including the Governor and his entourage, members of the press corps, security agencies, and other government officials. The highlight of the occasion was a captivating performance by the Ehere Women dance troupe, which added an extra layer of cultural vibrancy to the festivities.
