The Vice Chancellor Abia State University Uturu (ABSU), Prof. Onyemachi Maxwell Ogbulu has vowed expel any student found wanting in character and conduct.
Prof. Ogbulu who stated this during the 40th Matriculation ceremony of Abia State University Uturu maintained that the University will not condone any form of cultism, examination malpractice, use of hard drugs, indecent dressing, demarketing the University among others.
The Vice Chancellor pointed out that there other windows of admission into the University that offers opportunities for the working class to enhance their academics especially the Institute of Continuing Education which runs undergraduate, postgraduate, postgraduate diploma and certificate courses.
He urged parents to monitor the academic progress of their children by insisting to see evidence of their course registration on the University portal and restated their commitment to train the students to excel in learning and character in line with the University mandate.
Ogbulu used occasion to thank the visitor to the University Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for his continued support to the University which has enabled it to excel nationally and internationally.
Expressing their happiness, some of the Matriculating students including Chigozie Egbeike, Orji Ogbonnaya Iheaka and Mmesoma Michael thanked God for the opportunity to improve themselves educationally and promised to work hard to justify their admission into the University.
Highpoint of the 40th Matriculation ceremony was the administration of Matriculation oath on the 5,258 Matriculants by the University Registrar, Dr Acho Elendu.
