Rivers State Police Command to begin prosecution of suspected serial killer

Rivers State Police Command says it will charge the suspected serial killer Gracious David West to court this week.

This comes one month after the command paraded the suspect.

Recalled that David West had in his last confession released by the police said he has killed 15 girls in hotels in Rivers and 4 other states.

Spokesman of the police Nnamdi Omoni in an interview said that the matter has been thoroughly investigated and the suspect will be taken to court to answer the charges preferred against him.

” we are done with Gracious David West investigation. Hopefully he is going to be in court tomorrow or next as the case may be. We have filled our charge, but we ate awaiting assignment by the Chief Justice. The Chief Justice has given her word, that the matter will be assigned as soon as possible. So with that assurance, we are assured that the next couple of days David West will be in court.

DSP Omoni also said that the 3 suspects earlier arrested in connection with the serial killing in the State will not be charged to court. He said investigations shows that they are innocent of the crime they were arrested for.

” when we were spreading our investigation, we got some persons arrested in the cause of it. But we have come to the conclusion that based on we discover they had nothing to do with the killings in hotels in Port. So by virtue of that fact, we are going to release them unconditionally because they were investigated and at the end of our investigation, there is nothing linking them to that offence ” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Chief Justice of Rivers State, Justice Adama Iye Iyayi Lamikanra has promised that the trials of Gracious David West will receive speedy attention following the nature of the crime. Justice Iyanyi Lamikanra gave the assurance yesterday, when the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State Mustapha Dandaura led his management team to pay her a curtsy call.
