Abiapoly investigation: Abia House calls for whistle blowers support

Abia state House of Assembly has called on whistle blowers with relevant information that will help in the course of its investigation of Abia State Polytechnic,Aba, to forward same to the Assembly.

 

The Chairman of the Adhoc Committee saddled with the responsibility to investigate the institution ,Abiapoly, Hon. Jerry Uzosike, who disclosed this in an interaction with newsmen today, stressed that the information would assist them in their overnight functions and cautioned that such information must not be target at tarnishing anyone’s image .

 

Hon. Uzosike ,who is also the member representing Umuahia South State Constituency, further assured that the whistle blowers will be protected by the law,informing that their investigating the activities of Abia poly is not aimed at witch-hunting anybody but was predicated on correcting the alleged anomalies bordering on revenue leakages and inability of the management of the institution to pay workers owing to its funding by the state government.

He noted that the 7th House of Assembly is determined to support the administration of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to succeed and assured that they will give him the necessary legislative backing to thrive.

 

Lending their voices in support of the chairman’s views, the member representing Umunneochi State Constituency, Hon. Barr. Okey Igwe, and his colleague representing Bende North, Hon. Chijioke Chukwu, said that they were appointed by the 7th House to do thorough oversight job with a view to discovering the attendant causes of the wrongs ongoing in the institution and proffer lasting solutions through its recommendations .

They, therefore, called on the public to cooperate with the committee reiterating that they would not witch hunt anybody or compromise in the course of discharge of their duties.
