The new Permanent Headquarters of the Zone 9 Police command in Umuahia currently being constructed by the Okezie Ikpeazu led administration is expected to be ready for use in seven days time.
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu disclosed this in an interview with journalists after inspecting the new office complex at Ogurube layout Umuahia.
While expressing satisfaction at the level of work done by the contractor following mobilization by the state government,the governor who was in company of the state commissioner of Police Mr Okon Ene,expessed hope to formally hand over the permanent office complex which is at painting level to the Nigerian Police force.
He said: “It is my hope and expectation that we hand over an ultra modern functional office with alternative power, water and every other thing that will make it habitable for the operations of the men of the Nigerian police. .
“I’ve received commitment from the site engineer that inabout seven days time they will be ready. I’m sure that maximum in about ten days time,I’ll come back and announce a date that we will officially hand over the premises to the men of the Nigerian Police Force “.
The Governor however expressed concern at the level of flooding into the complex and directed the contractor to do proper storm water management.
