Youths have been recognized as vital agents of societal transformation and development, with a call for them to stay focused and build a purposeful future.
This charge was given by Apostle KC Wiper, Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Matters, during the 75th anniversary celebration of Pathfinders under the Adventist Youth Ministry, held at the Seventh-day Adventist Church Unity Chapel, Government House, Umuahia.
Apostle Wiper urged young people to set clear goals, prioritize their values, and channel their energy into positive pursuits. He highlighted the administration’s dedication to youth empowerment, noting that Governor Alex Otti’s creation of the Abia Leadership Academy underscores this commitment. The academy, he explained, is designed to equip young people with skills, reduce youth involvement in crime, and prepare them for leadership.
He encouraged youths to seize available training and skill acquisition opportunities, stressing that these initiatives are essential for building a stable and prosperous future. He also extended congratulations to Mr. Wisdom Ibe and his wife, Favor, on their wedding anniversary, offering prayers for their continued blessings.
In his sermon, titled “Judea and His Son’s Wife: From Scandal to Redemption,” Dr. Ndubisi Odikwa addressed the moral decline in marriages, urging couples to remain faithful to their vows. He emphasized that disobedience to God’s design for marriage leads to broken homes, immorality, and societal instability.
Church leaders, including Elder Orji Obinwa, Elder Okechi Aguwamba, and Dr. Nelson Ubani, praised the Adventist Youth Ministry for its strong impact on spiritual and personal development. They called on youths to apply the lessons learned in church to all aspects of life.
Some youths, including Deacon Emmanuel Onyebuchi and Mr. and Mrs. Ibe, expressed gratitude for God’s guidance and pledged to uphold values that honor their faith and community.
The event featured intercessory prayers for youths, families, the state, and the nation, culminating in the cutting of the anniversary cake.
