The Youth Leader of Ohiya Autonomous Community in Umuahia South LGA, Abia State, Mr. Chimankpa Iweha, has commended Governor Alex Otti for his administration’s ongoing reforms in the education sector.
Iweha, who gave the commendation while distributing learning materials to the pupils of Ohiya Community Primary School in commemoration of his birthday, described the Governor as a “miracle-working Governor” who has transformed many public schools across the state through renovation and retrofitting.
The Youth Leader also lauded the Otti-led administration for establishing and equipping a state-of-the-art health centre in Ohiya Community, which he described as one of the best in Abia State.
“To the glory of God, we have one of the best health centres in Abia. I was there when it was commissioned. We only need more nurses and doctors to match the quality of the equipment,” he said.

Mr. Iweha said his decision to distribute writing materials to pupils of Ohiya Community Primary School was to motivate them to take full advantage of the state’s free education policy and enhance their learning outcomes.
“The Governor has done his part by giving us free education. Providing learning materials is my way of supporting that effort.
“The Governor has been doing quite well in building and renovating schools across Abia. He is a God-sent to us,” Iweha added.
He, however, appealed for urgent intervention in the renovation and provision of classroom furniture for pupils of Ohiya Community Primary School, noting that some children still sit on the floor during lessons.
“It touches my heart to see children sitting on the floor in this modern era. While the government is doing its best, I call on our sons and daughters in the diaspora to join hands in developing our schools. We can’t leave everything to the government alone,” he said.
The Youth Leader pledged to continue supporting the progress of Ohiya Autonomous Community and to work with the Local Government Council to sustain ongoing development efforts.
“When I assumed office, I promised to work for the betterment of our community. I will continue to visit the schools and health facilities to ensure everything remains in order,” Iweha affirmed.
Contributing, a resident, Prince Ogechukwu, while felicitating with the celebrant, noted that Governor Otti, through sustained investments in the health and education sectors, has restored the confidence of the people in the state’s education and healthcare systems.
