Women under the platform, Renewed Hope Women of Faith in Politics, have intensified efforts to mobilise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as political realignments gradually emerge ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The gathering, held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State today, attracted women from different religious and political backgrounds, reflecting the movement’s interfaith outlook and focus on unity, national development and grassroots engagement.

The initiative, powered by Rivers Women Unite for SIM, was described as a strategic platform aimed at bringing women together across the country as a unified force committed to prayer, advocacy and civic responsibility.
Speaking at the event, the Convener, Amaopuorubo Sotonye Toby, said the platform is designed to function as a nationwide network of women dedicated to praying for Nigeria’s peace, stability and good governance.
According to her, sustained prayer remains a vital instrument for national transformation, especially in challenging times.
“In our diversity lies our strength. As women of faith, we must unite across religious and political lines to build a stronger and more inclusive Nigeria,” she said.
Toby noted that women play critical roles in nation-building, contributing significantly to sectors such as education, business, entrepreneurship and politics, while also maintaining family responsibilities.
She added that beyond its spiritual focus, the initiative is anchored on responsible civic engagement, particularly at the grassroots level, with the aim of mobilising women and amplifying their voices as drivers of peace and development.
Reaffirming the group’s political position, the convener declared support for the re-election of President Tinubu, aligning the movement with the ideals of the All Progressives Congress and its Renewed Hope agenda.
“We recognise the importance of continuity in leadership and the need to support governance that promotes stability, growth and national development. As women, we stand firmly behind the President as we look ahead to 2027,” she stated.
Toby also commended the leadership of the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, alongside President Tinubu, for what she described as their commitment to governance and development.
She urged women across the country—from ward to national levels—to remain united and actively participate in shaping Nigeria’s future.
The event ended with a call for sustained unity among women of all faiths and continued prayers for the peace, stability and prosperity of Nigeria.
Observers note that the emergence of faith-based political movements such as Renewed Hope Women of Faith in Politics reflects a growing trend of grassroots mobilisation ahead of future elections, with women increasingly positioning themselves as influential stakeholders in Nigeria’s political landscape.
