Wike Denies Plans to Invite EFCC, ICPC Against Ex-FCT Minister Bello

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has refuted recent social media reports claiming that he had initiated actions against his predecessor, Muhammad Musa Bello, involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). The allegations included contract variations and irregularities in project procurement.

In a statement released by the Director of Press in the Office of the Minister, Anthony Ogunleye, it was emphatically stated that these reports are entirely unfounded and lack any credibility. According to the statement, Minister Wike had expressed concerns and frustrations regarding irregularities in certain projects during his routine inspections within the FCT. However, at no point did he authorize or contemplate actions to invite the EFCC or ICPC to investigate his predecessor in connection with these matters or any others.

The statement further highlighted that the online story in question was a product of imagination, aimed at sowing discord and confusion among the public. The FCT Minister remains committed to his responsibilities of ensuring transparent administration within the Federal Capital Territory, and any actions or decisions taken by the FCTA will follow official channels and due process.

The public is urged to exercise caution and discernment when encountering such baseless reports and to disregard them entirely as deliberate attempts to spread fake news and create unnecessary tensions.
