We’ll Partner With You- Gov. Ikpeazu Assures NECO

Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie lkpeazu has assured the National Examination Council of Government’s preparedness to encourage and partner them to enable students continue to patronize their Council.

Dr lkpeazu who gave the assurance when a delegation from the National Examination Council NECO, Abia State Chapter led by it’s Chairman, Dr Innocent Ezenwanne paid him a courtesy call at Government House, Umuahia pointed out that, having been aware of the low level of registration of students into NECO, Govt will do all it can to ensure that the imbalance between student’s enrollment in WAEC and NECO examinations is addressed.

The Governor represented by his Deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu underscored the need for Parents. Teachers and Schools to expose their children and students to engage in various forms of examinations both internal and external to enable them develop more and achieve greater potentials.

He reiterated that the present administration in its resolve to give their best attention to the education sector decided to split the Ministries of Education into that of Basic and Post Basic Education, recognizing the fact that education remains the pivot of development of any society and promised to do everything possible to expose Abia students to register and participate in NECO exams.

The State’s Chief Executive directed both Ministries of Basic and Post Basic Education to embark on aggressive sensitization to address the anomaly to enable the State maintain its leading position in internal and external examinations across the Nation and urged the authorities of NECO in the State not to hesitate in informing Government of problems confronting them.

Earlier in his speech, the State Coordinator of NECO, Dr Innocent Ezenwanne while lamenting the decline noticed in the registration of Abia students in NECO exams in the State appealed to Govt to come in and help them compel Parents to ensure that their children take NECO alongside WAEC examinations for brighter opportunities.
