‘We are proud of Gov. Ikpeazu’ – PDP

People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed confidence in the administration of Abia State Governor, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu (Ph.D), describing it as frugal.

The Abia State Chairman, PDP, Rt. Hon. Alwell Asiforo Okere who disclosed this to newsmen in Umuahia, Abia state capital, added that the party in Abia State is proud of Gov. Ikpeazu’s achievements so far in office.

In his words: “My party has no regret putting him forward as governorship candidate in 2015 and 2019 respectively where he won the elections overwhelmingly. We in PDP are very proud of him, if we have another opportunity to present him to Abians and to Nigerians, we would not fail to do that”.

According to him, Dr. Ikpeazu has made tremendous achievements in various sectors of the economy in the last six years of his administration.

“His developmental strides are second to none, especially in critical infrastructure, Human Capital Development among others.

The former Speaker, Abia state House of Assembly further said, that the governor’s leadership style is quite unique, saying that most governors do very well in the first tenure and in their second tenure, they slow down or even vanish but Gov. Ikpeazu has been characterized with massive developmental projects, across the three senatorial zones in the state.

“He has stepped up the tempo and on daily basis, initiates new projects, he inspects ongoing ones and commissions the completed ones”, he added.

The Ndoki-born politician described the governor as industrious and ingenuous man, stating that his five pillars of development, their enablers, the small scale businesses and industries are on course under Gov. Ikpeazu’s dispensation.

The former lawmaker, appreciated the political stability in the State under the leadership of Gov. Ikpeazu and highlighting that the state is safe and not polarized like in the past.

“The governor relates with everybody and that is what has been misconstrued in some cases where people think that governor wants to leave PDP to join another party. He is only expressing his leadership role as the leader of the State”, he explained.

He said the relationship between the governor, who is the leader of the party in the state and the party faithful is cordial.

Rt. Hon. Okere added that the party is working hand in glove with him to ensure the unity and harmony in the party are sustained.

He discarded the insinuation that some people are leaving the party and made it clear that people who hitherto had no political party and decided to join one cannot be taken as defecting from PDP to another party, emphasizing that no reasonable person that would build a mansion, leave it like that and live in a canopy or live under the rain.

He revealed that people are moving into PDP enmasse on daily basis,

“PDP is very large, we don’t have that much time like other parties where anyone who moves in, you go and celebrate it. We have so many people, we have so many big wigs, so who are you going to celebrate? But for them, if they manage to catch a grasshopper, they go on social media and they make noise”, he added.

The PDP State Chairman, who saluted the the Abia governor for being on top of the security situation in the State also scored him high in the way he managed the covid-19 pandemic in 2020 and his current efforts in stemming the tides of the second wave of the pandemic.

He pleaded with Abians and residents to remain steadfast in supporting the PDP-led administration in the State assuring that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu would continue to deliver the dividends of democracy to them.
