Super Falcons of Nigeria produced a stunning comeback to defeat host Morocco 3-2 to clinch their 10th WAFCON title.
Nigeria was trailing 2-0 in the first half, but goals from Esther Okoronkwo, Folashade Ijamilusi and Jennifer Echegini gave Nigeria the day
The Moroccans were all over Nigeria from the blast of the whistle and deservedly took the lead in the 12th minute through Ghizlane Chebbak’s stunning strike. Twelve minutes later, Morocco doubled their lead through Sanaa Msouddy.
Morocco have become the first team to lose two finals back to back on home soil having lost the 2022 edition to South Africa.
On the other hand Nigeria have become the first team to win the new trophy released for this tournament. The Super Falcons also took home the one million dollars prize money.
Skipper Rasheedat Ajibade won the Most Valuable Player of the tournament while goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie won the Best Goalkeeper Award after conceding only two goals in open play.
