Victoria Aguiyi-ironsi Dies A Day After Adanma Okpara Demise

Victoria Aguiyi-Ironsi, the wife of late Nigerian head of state, Major General Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi, has passed on a day after the demise of Lady Adanma Okpara, wife of former Premier of Eastern Region.

The former first lady passed on Monday at 97. She would have been 98 on November 21, 2021.

Her husband, and the Supreme Commander of the National Military Government, was killed on July 29, 1966.

A statement by his son and former Minister of Defence, Ambassador Tom Aguiyu-Ironsi reads :

Recall, Lady Adanma Okpara , wife of the Premier of Eastern Region died on Sunday 22nd August, 2021.
