The Vice Chancellor of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), has sent a passionate appeal to the Federal government to address the ban in employment across Universities in Nigeria.
According to him,since 2019, no waiver has been granted for recruitment in Nigerian universities.

Addressing Journalists in a media chat,as part of activities marking the fourth anniversary celebration of the Vice Chancellor, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike,, Prof Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe, said there are a lot of gap in the lecturing workforce,appealing that the Federal government should lift the ban on employment,so as to allow universities recruit more lecturers to fill vacancies that have existed for over six years.
He pointed out that at MOUAU, the shortage of senior lecturers has become evident, as many have risen to the ranks of Professors and Associate Professors.Additionally, he stressed the need to replace those who have relocated abroad, ensuring the university maintains a strong academic workforce.
Prof Iwe, however, noted that with the rising standard of the university to maintain global competitiveness, manpower in academic staff should not be an hindrance.
