Varsity Don Decries ‘New Normal’ In External Exam Writing

A University Don at Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Prof. Samuel Amaele has disclosed that writing external examination such as WAEC and NECO by students who are below Secondary School Class Three (SSC 3) is fraudulent.

Speaking with our Reporter, Prof. Amaele explained that the practice is capable of destroying the moral foundation of the education sector. He also said that the rush to acquire paper qualification is against training of the mindset, and character, and would not promote the manpower in Nigeria.

He further said that writing WAEC or NECO at SS1 means you are stopping the program that is meant for three years to one year, adding that the student will skip year one and two lessons, and knowledge for that level will not be achieved.

He, however, said that in most cases those students are not writing the exam base on their intelligent, but it is a kind of arrangement that encourages examination malpractice.

The philosophy of education lecturer in his assessment of Nigeria since the first independence anniversary said all sectors of the economy has collapsed and call on the leadership of the country to take urgent steps to revive the economy.

He further explained that the crude oil produced in Nigeria, is bought at cheaper rate by the foreigners, refined in their country, and they sell it to Nigeria in a high rate. He also said that he will not be surprised if Garri or Yam is imported, since toothpick is being imported, despite the fact that we have enough tress in the country.

He concluded by saying Nigeria is not United strong and self reliance, since it depends outside for everything.
