Member representing Umuahia South State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Jerry Uzosike, has described the road construction work ongoing along Ubakala-Aba road as democracy at its best.
Uzosike who stated this while inspecting work in-progress on the road said he was grateful to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for his decision to revive the uncompleted project in his constituency and in his tenure as a lawmaker and added that the deplorable state of the road had been a major concern for him and the people of his constituency.
The Lawmaker further thanked his constituents for cooperating with the contractor handling the project adding that road when completed will better the lots of Abians.
Also contributing, the Site Engineer, Mr. Obetel Obetel while fielding questions from journalists affirmed that the indigenes and traders who do business along the road comply with them.
While commenting on the rumour that many shops and houses along the roadwill be demolished in the process, Engr. Obetel assured that it is only those that encroached on the road plan will be affected.
Meanwhile an indigene of the area, Mr. Cyprian Otiroma, hailed Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for his decision to rehabilitate the abandoned road, noting that they had suffered a great deal since the road was in terrible condition.
