The Gubernatorial Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in Abia State, Professor Uche Ikonne, has called on all Abians to uphold the virtues of Repentance ,Peace and forgiveness in their interactions with one another.
Professor Ikonne who was in the company of his wife, Barr. Lady Uzoamaka Uche Ikonne, gave this advice at the 2022 BIENNIAL DIOCESAN WOMEN’S GUILD CONFERENCE of the Diocese of Isiala Ngwa Anglican Communion, held at St. George’s Cathedral Umuomainta Nbawsi.
According to him, peace,repentance and forgiveness are the major ingredients needed for good governance in the State.
He lamented on the negative effects of unforgivness to the progress of the society, and further urged all to forgive and always give peace a chance, as it is the sweet side of repentance.
Earlier in his homily, the Bishop, Diocese of Isiala Ngwa, The Rt. Rev. Temple O. Nwogu, PhD, who spoke on the “Theme ” BRING FORTH THERE FRUITS, MEET FOR REPENTANCE” , admonished the congregants to forgive and pray for those who have wronged them whether they realise it or not.
He said, forgiveness is what distinguishes a true Christian from unbelievers, and also that those who forgive from their hearts and refuse to make reference to the offence any more are true sons and daughters of God.
Highlights of the conference was the cutting of the 2022 Biennial conference cake, as well as a special prayer for God to grant Professor Uche Ikonne victory come 2023.
