Ukwa-East Council Boss, Dame Nwagbara Receives Obohia-Ndoki Eze-elect, Chief Nduwuisi

The Chairman, Ukwa-East Local Government Area (LGA), Dame Ngozi Nwagbara (PhD), has received Obohia Ndoki Eze-elect, Chief Ugochukwu John Nduwuisi, describing him as a man of integrity.

Speaking at Ukwa-East Local LGA headquarters, Akwete during the presentation of Chief Nduwuisi as Eze-elect by Obohia Council of Mbichiriezis to the Council recently, the Mayor commended the people of Obohia-Ndoki community for conducting themselves properly, maintaining that their Eze-elect is renowned for community service and is a worthy son of the Obohia-Ndoki.

She urged them to sustain peaceful coexistence in their community and support Gov. Alex Otti’s administration, adding that the Abia state Governor is determined to drive development to all parts of the state.

She promised to convey the community’s decision to Abia state government through the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs for ratification and approval.

Earlier in his speech, the Chairman, Obohia Ndoki council of Mbichiriezis, Chief Ernest Enyinna Benson, disclosed that their community has unanimously nominated Chief Nduwuisi as their Eze-elect and they were at the council headquarters to present him officially to Ukwa-East LGA, pending further ratification from relevant authorities.

He further revealed that Obohia Council of Mbichiriezis is saddled with the responsibilities of taking care of the community in the absence of a king, initiate and present Eze-elect to Obohia community and government among others, according to the customs and laws of the land.

In his words: “From 1949 till date, I have witnessed the emergence of several kings in Obohia-Ndoki, ranging from Eze Dike Chuchu Iwuoha, Eze Charles Nwagbara, and Eze Hyacinth Okere Dike (Iloko III) who died January 11, 2021”.

He noted that the ascension to Obohia-Ndoki ancient throne is rotational, adding that Nwarie family which is the first son of Okoroaja has taken, and the next is Umunwulu family who has also nominated and adopted Chief Nduwuisi as the Eze-elect according to their customs and traditions.

Contributing, a member of Obohia council of Mbichiriezi, Ezima Kanu has described the Eze-elect, Chief Nduwuisi as a community leader and philanthropic icon who understands the real situation of the people, having lived with them for years.

He expressed hope that the Eze-elect, Chief Nduwuisi would drive the needed developmental agenda of Obohia ancient Kingdom when ratified by Abia State government.

In his acceptance speech, the Eze-elect, Chief Nduwuisi thanked the Obohia-Ndoki Council of Mbichiriezis and the entire community for the revered privilege to serve them as the traditional ruler, adding that he would not take it for granted.

The Eze-elect who also promised to provide royal leadership of unity, love and enthrone prosperity through collaborative efforts, decried that Obohia-Ndoki lacked basic amenities, insisting that it has affected the people negatively.

The Eze-elect who promised to attract investors to Obohia-Ndoki for sustainable development, also expressed hope that the present Abia State Government, led by Gov. Alex Otti would properly address the problems in the rural populace, especially in Ukwa-East LGA and reposition the state to an enviable height among comity of states in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the Community youth leader, Comrade Chinenye Ukaegbu has applauded the Eze-elect, Chief Nduwuisi, for accepting to serve Obohia ancient Kingdom in such capacity, expressing faith that he would not disappoint the people owing to his antecedents.

Obohia-Ndoki community has been without a traditional ruler as their former Monarch, HRH. Eze Hyacinth Okere Dike (Iloko III) who was coronated on the 26th day of March, 2005, died on the 11th of January 2021 and was buried on 29th of May 2021.
