The Minority Whip and member representing Arochukwu State Constituency in the Abia House of Assembly, Hon. Mike Ukoha, has expressed pleasure in the people of Arochukwu LGA, for obeying the lockdown order, as a result of the corona virus pandemic.
Speaking during a radio programme interview (Day Break Abia), on Pace Setter FM 103.5 Umuahia, he explained that his constituents are law abiding, noting that they have impressed him for not disobeying government directives.
The lawmaker, specifically, thanked the Transition Committee Chairman, Arochukwu Local Government, Mazi Jideofor Kanu, for his untiring efforts to ensure that the people of the LGA, obeyed government directive on the lockdown, adding that such is a welcome development.
He stated that the TC Chairman and his team have continued to work round the clock, by visiting communities in the LGA, so as to monitor the lockdown directive, especially among churches in the area.
Hon. Ukoha noted that more enlightenment and sensitization is required, in order to make the people to be more aware of the virus and preventive measures.
The lawmaker, while commending the Commissioner for Homeland Security, Abia State and his team for ensuring that all our borders are tightened in order to prevent further spread, also advised the Ministry to do more in enforcing the lockdown order.
He hinted that although, we may not get it right 100 percent, he however agreed that 90 to 95 percent, can be achieved.
The Minority Whip, emphatically noted that peoples lifestyle will definitely change, across the world, after COVID 19, advising that the earlier we all educate the people, the better for everyone.
He advised the people of Arochukwu LGA not to worry, assuring that he is discussing with some local tailors in the area, to sow facial mask, which will be distributed to everyone soon.
