Ugwunagbo Local Government Area has officially announced its full support for the re-election of Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR. The community stated clearly that there will be no vacancy in Government House, Umuahia, in 2027.
The announcement was made on Monday, 19 January 2026, during a meeting called by the Executive Mayor of Ugwunagbo LGA, Hon. Chiemela Iheanacho Wagbara, at the Council Secretariat. The meeting was attended by political leaders, traditional rulers, women and youth leaders, party officials, and other important stakeholders from across the local government area.
Hon. Wagbara praised the people of Ugwunagbo for their unity and commitment to the progress of Abia State. He urged everyone to keep supporting good governance and to continue backing the current administration.
The Mayor described Governor Otti as a transformational leader who has positively impacted the entire state, including Ugwunagbo. He mentioned major projects such as the rehabilitation of Ohanku Road, Obohia Road, and Port Harcourt Road. He stressed that continued support is needed to build on the progress already made and called for strong grassroots mobilization in favor of the governor.

The member representing Ugwunagbo in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Chijioke Urakpa, said Governor Otti deserves a full eight-year term to complete his development plans. He formally moved a motion for a vote of confidence, which was unanimously adopted.
Former Mayor of Ugwunagbo, Hon. Nosike Ihesiaba, stated that the whole local government area is committed to Governor Otti’s re-election and promised strong electoral support in 2027.
Former Chairman of Ugwunagbo LGA, Hon. Joy Chinasaokwu Nnata, speaking for women in the area, thanked the governor for projects that have improved living conditions, especially in transportation and economic activities. She confirmed that women in Ugwunagbo fully support a second term for Governor Otti.

The Labour Party Chairman, Mr. Dike Achioke, said the governor has widespread support among the people, while the Youth Chairman, Mr. Victor Nwaohamuo, added that the governor’s performance in just two years has exceeded expectations, promising the full support of young people.
Traditional rulers, led by Eze Chris Ajuzie, pledged their support and insisted that Governor Otti should complete a full eight-year term. HRH Eze S. N. Nwosu, Second Vice Chairman of the Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers, praised the governor’s inclusive leadership and support for traditional institutions.
Chief Akachi Ugwuala, Abia Arise Coordinator in Ugwunagbo, commended the governor for paying salaries and pensions on time, saying it has improved the welfare of workers and retirees.
Mr. Choice Osisike also reminded citizens about the importance of voter registration and urged all eligible residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards. He also highlighted the ongoing registration for National Identification Numbers (NIN), which will be linked to Tax Identification Numbers (TIN), encouraging everyone to register.
At the end of the meeting, all stakeholders and residents of Ugwunagbo LGA passed a vote of confidence in Governor Otti, confirming their support and declaring that there will be no vacancy in Government House in 2027.
