Ugwuanyi Assures JONAPWD Of Domestication Of Disability Act

Enugu–Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, has promised to ensure that the National Discrimination Against Persons With Disabilities Act is domesticated in the state before the end of his administration.

According to Ugwuanyi, he will engage with relevant stakeholders, including members of the State Assembly, to ensure the Act see the light of the day.

The governor stated this on Wednesday when he received members of the Joint Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) at the Government House, Enugu.

The governor noted that aside the domestication of the Act, his government has taken seriously the welfare of persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups in the state.

He expressed the believe that the Act, when domesticated and implemented, would further improve the welfare as well as give JONAPWD members sense of belonging in Enugu State.

Speaking earlier, the State JONAPWD Chairman, Mr Onyebuchi Mba, commended the governor for extending dividend of democracy to them, which include award of scholarship and providing employment opportunities to their members.

Mba noted that persons with disabilities have not had it so good and pledged their loyalty to the policies and programmes of the state government.
