UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: Young Boys Stun Man. Utd Despite Ronaldo’s Goal

Young Boys of Switzerland scored a last minute winner to defeat Manchester United 2-1 in group F opening match of this season’s UEFA Champions League.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who was making a record equaling 177th appearance in the competition, fired the Red Devils ahead on the 13th minute after receiving a sumptuous pass from countryman Bruno Fernandes.

Unfortunately, United played with only ten men for about an hour after Aaron Wan-Bissaka was given a straight red card following his dangerous tackle on Christopher Martins.

After the break, Cameroon winger Moumi Ngamaleu equalized for the home side.  United’s hope of taking at least a point from the game was shattered when Jordan Siebatcheu scored the winner on the 95th minute.

United performance was below par as they could muster just two shots throughout the game. Having failed to qualify for the knock-out stage last season, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer will have to fine tune his side ahead of their next game on 29th September against Villarreal of Spain – a repeat of last season’s UEFA Europa League final.
