Liverpool are hoping to sustain their dominance over German teams in European competitions when they file out against RB Leipzig in the second leg round of 16 of this season’s UEFA Champions League.
The first leg ended 2-0 in favor of the English side. This match will be the 21st time Liverpool will be facing a German side across all European competitions. They have won 16 and drawn four of the previous 20 matches. Liverpool have scored 52 goals and have conceded only nine.
Despite their letargic performance in the domestic league, Liverpool are hoping to sustain their dorminance over German opposition and eventually qualify for the quarter finals.
“We have momentum in the Champions League,” said Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, “you can always have a chance in the next game.”
However, the German side, coached by 33 year old Julian Nagelsmann, are not giving up yet. They have reflected on that 5-0 humiliation by another English side, Manchester United, during the group stages, and are determined to give the Reds a run for their money tonight.
The match will not take place at Amfield due to Coronavirus restrictions, but will hold at the Puskas Arena in Budapest, Hungary.
