The Old Trafford will be the centre of attraction tonight when Manchester United host Atletico Madrid in the second leg round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League.
In the first leg, Joao Felix opened scoring for the Spaniards, but Anthony Elanga equalized for the Red Devils. With the away goals rule abolished, there is all to play for in this potentially explosive encounter.
Ronaldo grabbed the headlines last weekend when his hat-trick helped United defeat Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 in the league. The Portuguese has scored seven goals in his previous 11 games against Atletico Madrid in this competition. He will definitely be looked upon to carry United on his shoulders tonight.
However, since after the first leg Atletico Madrid have won all their three matches and are fourth on the La Liga table while United have drawn, lost and win their three matches respectively.
Having been eliminated from the English FA Cup and are currently fifth on the league table 20 points adrift of leaders, Manchester City, United’s only hope of winning a silverware this season is the UEFA Champions League. Therefore United is expected to give their all in tonight’s game.
