UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: Bayern, Juventus through to Knock-out stage

Juventus of Italy and Bayern Munich of Germany have qualified for the knock-out stage of this season’s UEFA Champions League after garnering maximum points. Both clubs have unassailable 12 points after winning all their first four matches.

Juventus defeated Zenit St Petersburg 4-2 in Group H while Bayern Munich thrashed Benfica 5-2 in Group E.

In other matches, Manchester United maintained their lead in Group F after coming from behind twice to draw 2-2 in Italy. Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 138th and 139th Champions league goals to ensure United shared the spoils with Atalanta.

Samuel Chukwueze’s Villarreal defeated Young Boys 2-0 to go joint tops with the Red Devils.

Fati Vieria’s 70th minute goal helped Barcelona defeat Dynamo Kyiv in Ukraine and thereby brighten their chances of making it to the round of 16 as they are now second in Group E behind Bayern Munich.

French champions, Lille came from behind to defeat their host Sevilla 1-2. Ocampos had given the home side the lead on the 15th minute but Lille responded with a penalty late into the first half before Ikone’s 51st minute goal seal the victory for the French side.
