The Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Umuahia has upheld the election of Gov. Alex Otti of Labour Party.
Delivering the judgement on the petition filed by Chief Ambrose Ahaiwe of the PDP against the state governor, Dr. Alex Otti, the chairman of the Tribunal, Justice GTD Gwada held that the Petitioner failed to convince or defend their claims that the election was marred by irregularities and not in line with the provision of the 2022 electoral acts.
It further noted that the issue of submission of candidate’s name to INEC as well as the issue of conduct of primaries election are entirely all domestic affairs of the party and so that the Tribunal has no jurisdiction over that and hereby dismissed the petition for lacking in merit.
