Breaking News: Tribunal Upholds Election of LP House of Representatives Candidate, Hon. Ginger Onwusibe

The Justice Hajaratu Lawal led Tribunal Panel has upheld the election of the Labour Party (LP) House of Representatives candidate, Hon. Ginger Onwusibe representing the Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal Constituency of Abia State and struck out the petition of Chijioke  Chukwuemeka Ikpo of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Delivering the judgement in Umuahia, the panel said that the petitioner was unable to convince the Tribunal with clear evidence of the allegations of non-compliance to the electoral acts and as well as electoral irregularities. The Panel in their wisdom also said that the petitioner could not prove their case beyond reasonable doubt and thereby dismissed the petition.

In related development, the State and National Election Petition Tribunal has rejected the petition filed by Agbazuere Anthony, a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). The tribunal, based in Umuahia, issued its judgment, citing two key reasons for the dismissal.

Firstly, the tribunal ruled that the petition had previously been subjected to legal proceedings, rendering it inadmissible. Secondly, it was determined that there was insufficient evidence to support the claim that the first respondent, Ginger Onwusibe, had not been duly elected with a majority of the votes and had also violated electoral regulations. Consequently, the tribunal formally dismissed the petition.
